Default Another question on Rims

I ordered a set of rims yesterday but it fell through so I am still looking....my question is - what is the biggest rim size without the tires sticking out? I was gonna order 17 X 9's or maybe 18 X 9's.....but what about 18 X 10 for instance??

Also - why do some people have bigger tires at the back - read a few posts from people saying they have put 9's at front and 10's at back?? I understand the fatter the tire at front the less traction you will have so maybe that is why?!?!

It is not just the rim size, IT IS THE OFFSET please read the answers to your previous post !!

why do some people have bigger tires at the back
1- It looks good
2-Wider tires/wheels will fit there (the front wheels may hit body parts when you turn)
3-A little more traction (the larger the wheel dia. 17,18 etc... the less traction)

Also, If you have different size wheels front/back you cannot rotate your tires, you may have to buy 2-3 sets
of rear tires for each set of fronts depending on your driving habits.

I understand the fatter the tire at front the less traction you will have so maybe that is why
Never heard that one....

OK guys...I founds some 17 X 8's but with an offset of 25mm.......is this gonna look stupid or out of proportion you think???

This company said they have sold hundreds of these sets in 25mm and had none back....! They also said it works out to half an inch it will stick out more - I just cannot picture if this will look bad or not as I have never played around with wheels before!??

Thanks for all the help I have gotten on the rims questions!

Several guys here have used the smaller offset... with mixed feelings. Some like it, some don't... it's all personal taste. It's hard to tell by pictures... I know, because I struggled with the same dilemna. Ultimately, I held out until I found a tire/wheel combination using the "correct" 2005 offset. Mine line up almost exactly even with the fender flare.

18 X 9 with +35mm OFFSET works and looks awesome. You can use these on all 4 corners.

For staggered, 18 X 9 +35mm OFFSET Front and 18 X 10 +45mm OFFSET Rear.

P255-45R18 with 18 X 9's

P285-40R18 with 18 X 10's
