Default disabling my car

Hey everyone! I have a potentially stupid question as I know jack **** about cars. Try to put up with me here.

I'm not driving my car for winter, and so it's staying put in a public garage (I live in an apartment). I'm petrified someone is going to steal it and I've heard of people taking out the starter fuse or something to disable the car. Exactly what, where, and how do I do that? Also, is that the best idea or is there something else you all do? Thanks.

You can do that, run a cut off switch, disconnect the battery etc but if they really want it they'll get it anyways.

For the fuse, look in your owners manual. It will have a diagram that shows your the numbers of each fuse and have a chart saying which numbers do what. Find the numbers that you need and simply pull them from the fuse box

Not sure about the Stang but on my SUV, if I pull the EFI fuse she isn't going anywhere w/o a towtruck.

Save them the trouble and put it up on blocks dude!

No seriously, have you taken consideration to any of the following:

1. Removing steering wheel
2. Removing battery
3. Quality locking car cover (lock won't keep thieves out, but will give you a good indicator if someone has messed with your ride)
4. LoJack recovery system installed

All or a combination of these might help! Just my 2 cents...

I agree that if someone really wants to steal your car, they can do it. Remove the battery and put a steering wheel lock on the car. This will deter all but the most determined thieves.

you can do many things to deter a thief and/or make them "earn" getting your car like pulling a fuse, putting a locking bar on the steering wheel, pulling the battery, installing a kill switch on the starter, etc....but if someone wants your car bad enough, consider it gone.

The main thing when parking your car, just don't leave any personal information inside of it. Clean out the center console, glovebox, & trunk. That way if someone does get inside of your car, YOU are safe (referring to things like name, SSN, address, etc..).

Do as I do when I went away for college. Take the fuel pump relay out and keep it in a safe place.

easy and fast
