Default SHIFT LIGHT - ideas, opinions

I'm setting my car up for occasional track use and would like to get some kind of shift light. I'd rather not have one of those big honking shift-light tubes on the dash. Now that I'm cammed I can run the car all the way out to 6500 rpm and it's easier to overrev. I need something so that I don't have to watch the tach so closely.

Maybe something integrated into the dash or maybe a gauge-type. And preferably something that I can enable/disable when I need it.

any ideas? pics?

Hmmm, just did a search and heard that someone installed one into their airvent so it could just be closed when they don't want to bothered with it.

that's a pretty great idea...

Ive seen airvent too.. it looks really good and clean ! Or you could drill a hole out in the middle of the dash between the two vents and slide it in there Add a rubber seal around it and give it that factory look... Just an idea ! I have an auto so i dont get the luxury of the light !

I'm sure they probably make some nice gauge ones with switches.. I'm going to research but figured I would ask you guys first. It's nice to see other folks ingenious ideas when it comes to these things.

I just started to think about it today after giving a friend a ride and running her out to 6500.. you gotta have hawk eyes once you get in that red zone. lol.

I think I found what I need. These are badass!

I'll just get a gauge cluster and run a/f, fuel/oil pressure maybe and shift light for now...

Thanks Matt, but I'm kind of enthralled with these "progressive" type autometers.

I'm going to need a gauge cluster eventually anyway and those AM lights look really nice. I just as soon make that my next project.

You can even dim them!! very nice.

Sure thing....

It works well for me there, as it easily catches your attention out of the corner of your eye. The raptors are very bright, and, they do come with covers, should you not want to use it, as you mentioned.....

It's a great 100 dollar mod, and easy to wire as well....
