Default LED stop/tail light BULBS?

I don't know about you guys, but I can't find 4057 LED bulbs anywhere. By looking at 4057 I realized that it's pretty similar to 3157 which is a dual fillament light bulb, as well, so I went to Auto Zone today and asked my former co worker if I could try it on and see if it works. It does come on as a tail light (when headlights are on), but it just won't work as a stop light. When you hit the brakes nothing happens. I thought maybe it was the bulb so I tried a different one and the result was the same. I remember about a year ago I tried to get 921 LED's for my reverse light-- I still don't understand what happened. I put them in and they wouldn't work. Why I'm confused is that when I connected them directly to the battery they worked just fine. Is there anything magical about our cars that we need to do to make LED's work the way they are supposed to or what's the whole deal with them work off the car, but not on it? Or are there any LED bulbs that I could get that WILL work that you guys know about. I mean not being able to find a light bulb for this car as if it were a Ferrari or something is really driving me nuts, just like a bunch of other parts that you can't get anywhere.
P.S. After going to Auto Zone I went through a few LED dealer websites and found a X refference chart for light bulbs in which it stated that 3157 should work as a replacement for 3057,3357,4057,4157 and 3 or 4 other ones, so I was correct when I purchased it.

Im not sure why its not working, ive never replaced the tail light bulbs yet, but i have ordered from Autolumination.com several times. Not sure if this will help ya out, but try contacting them about the 4057 bulb. i searched through their site and didnt see the 4057 listed, anywhere. they have a cross reference guide too. so...maybe contact them about the issue?

Interesting. I was just looking up LED versions of the 4057 (I have one burnt out brake bulb) and wanted to convert all of them to LED's.

I've not found anything yet.

Anyone know of a LED version of the 4057 (or its equivalent) that's a "quality" (not cheap) replacement?

Nothing under "4057" or under their LED replacement bulbs...

Im assumings it has to do with the same issue as the 3157 bulbs. Doesnt yours hyperflash? Im sure theres some technical **** that makes it not work properly.

I found some 3157's on eBay and emailed the seller. He said they are the same as the 4057, but I'm not buying that since the OP said he tried it and it didn't work.

I've read on another forum (not mustang) that replacing standard bulbs with LED's requires swapping the relays and that those guys were dealing with wiring harness issues as a result.

I hope we get some input here from the guys currently running LED's and see wuzup.

Yeah, I hope so too. I need to buy a replacement bulb and would prefer to buy LED's.

Hmmmm...still nothing on this, huh?

I might have to bite the bullet and try one from eBay and see what happens.
