Most 'new models' have some teething issues the first year or two that they are out....has the 2005 Mustang proven to have any major issues that were 'fixed' for 06 and beyond?

I've had a few issues, most of them minor: a leak in the passenger side front, brake line got frozen, trunk light assembly (the plastic thing holding the light on) snapped off, speakers and door panels have gotten a little loose and buzzy... probably some other stuff.
I think one major change was the spark plug shift from 2-piece to 1-piece on the 2007s or 2008s, I believe. That's a pretty major "issue" for the earlier models.

the fuel pump bubble issue, the door handle issue, the leaking on the early verts, the clutch packs in some of the cars, stuff like that. other than that, its a solid car. rattles and stuff are present, but drivetrain wise, its a hell of a platform. very strong motor (6800+ RPM) solid transmission, and built rear end.

I currently own a 2005 and haven't had any troubles except the light on my dash indicating that my fuel cap is off keeps coming on every 100-150 miles after I keep resetting it. I have already replaced the fuel cap and that didn't do it so I choose to ignore it at this time.

I'd say the biggest thing I dindt like was all the rattles, some of which caused by various trim peices not snapped in all the way. Others, like a bunch in the driver door, were fixed under warranty.
Broken shift lever bolt was probably the only major mechanical issue (was hard to get into park with the automatic). Driveshaft vibration was an issue, too. Lots of people had problems with the fuel tank not wanting to fill up; I have that happen once in awhile. And problems with the Shaker 500.
So yeah, some early problems with a new design; I too was concerned about that at first, but after driving and buying one, I didnt really care!

My 05 has 3 problems the speedo works sometimes, the gas gage the same, slow fill when fueling, and the door inserts feel off and had to be re glued, car has 20,000 mile on it and well care for. Beside that its been great and fun!! The speedo thing is iratating, that's a quality problem, same with the door panel inserts. The slow fill is a design issue.
