Default polishing chrome wheels........

I've done it before without problems. I did it today and spent nearly 4 hours doing so. I used the mini powerball and Mothers chrome polish. My problem was wiping away the polish once it hazed over. The bottle was brand new, temp was nearly 60*, washed and dried wheels before polishing..........the majority of the polish wiped away, but it left a hazy, smudged appearance. I scrubbed and scrubbed and about winded myself fogging the wheels with my breath. WTF happened? I need a new technique, please advise!

Ouch,
do not use a "Chrome Polish" to clean your chrome wheels. You can use them on polished wheels, but if you use an abrasive compound you will ruin your chrome wheels.

If they look dull or hazy after you did it, this is due to having taken off the top layer of chrome or high nickel.

I think Jeffo is right. The mother's polish might be a bit abrasive for Chrome wheels, especially with the mini powerball. Hopefully you did not scratch the finish too badly. Try using some lambs wool to see if it wil bring the luster back.
