Default Steering Creaking Noise??

So... this noise comes and goes, and it's mostly when it's cold, but when I turn the steering wheel, it sounds like an old creaking door or something... It's only audible when I'm turning and I can only hear it when going really slow, not to say it isn't there all the time, but this is the only time I've heard it.... Kind of like a low knocking almost? It's pretty annoying and has me worried as time has gone by with it still persisting, anyone with ideas???

Derek its funny u brought this topic up, I am currently having the same exact problem with my 05 GT an i just started 2 notice it about a month or 2 ago, its very quiet but still distinctive and that noise i kno for sure isnt supposed to occur wen i turn my steering wheel around and around...it does happen to me wen its cold more often , infact thats really the only time i notice it is wen im juss starting to drive my car and the engine/car is still cold
i dont really kno what 2 do about it, i guess thats why i have put it off for so long 2 try and fix the issue...at first wen i heard it i immediately thought wd-40, but thats prob not a very good idea since i hav no clue wats causing this 2 occur and i havent heard this noise for as long as ive owned the car until now...
by the way it doesnt always make a noise wen i drive, its really weird, but it does it enough 2 where it annoys the hell out of me

wish i could help us both out bro

Well it sounds like the same noise I just had fixed at the dealer of all places can you believe it? anyway I had the exact same thing and they said it was a boot at the steering column that wasnt lubricated correctly from the factory. They took care of it up and have not had problem since. I hope this helps.

Default strut mounts

if your lowered also look into the upper strut mount tsbs, after my springs, when cold only, it makes rubbery knocking noise when turning while still. first started on the driver side, then now on the pass side as well.

I'm not lowered but I was getting the same type of noise. The dealer installed the unpated struts-GONE
