Default pypes install..(meh)

just got my pypes mid muffs installed, love the sound, but there is a rattle there which boils blood. i spent 100$ at meineke, looks great, no leaks, but i crawled under car quick, and the drivers side tail pipe hits on what appears to be a black in color crossmember, i didnt crawl under it enough (wearing nice clothes) to see what exactly its hitting on. i grab the tail pipe and shake it, and i can hear it, ting ting. passenger side is good, and on flat smooth surface i love it, but hit a crack in the road its its embarassing. maybe just bending the hanger a little bit harder kink will raise the pipe enough to prevent it from hitting. i dunno. anyone else suffer anything like this with this system?

dude i loved the way that system sounded, but i had the same exact problem as you it seems its hit or miss with the pypes mid muffs...some people say they dont have any problems i sold my system because of the rattle.....its hitting the panhard bar crossmember. I couldnt get rid of it for the life of me...i adjusted it a million times.....good luck man

I have the same problem that I'm trying to solve right now. What I'm planning to do is to wrap either the underside of the car or the exhaust pipe in some heat-resistant metalized tape or something so it can cushion the dinging.

pypes is crap.
always have, always will be.
their product was junk long before the s197s were even in production when i read boards for another car i owned.

9 years later, not suprised im reading of pypes manufacturing crap for a different generation.

you get what you pay for.

perhaps on the pypes, but not many companies produce a mid muffler system. i know roush makes one now, for quite a bit more like 550 or so, its on mossmustang.

You get 1/2 inch thick spacers(washers) put them between the brace and the frame and bang your issue is gone

It sure sounds amazing for crap But as far as compatibility is concerned it was a pain in the *** to get it lined up right. Took it to 4 different places before it was lined up correctly.

Ok, so I tried out the tape theory, after only putting one piece on the bottom of my car, the rattling got cut down to about half of what it was before. I'm going to see if the tape melts or if it stays before putting on some more.
