Default E-brake gone?

The other day I was pulling into the mall and standard procedure I pulled the e-brake up, but it lost all restraint about half way up and then went all the way up with no force at all... So its like pulling up air now. It does not work anymore... Anyone know if this will be a simple fix or another reason for me to want to sell this thing..

Snapped cable, probably. If you don't intend on doing it yourself, then it's your choice of dealership, brake shop or your corner garage. I can tell you who'll charge you more but not how much.

i had that happen once, and it was because when i replaced the calipers, i had forgotten to clip the ebrake wire back on. check the ebrake lines to see if they came undone, but it could also be a broken wire as nuke said

Its probably a broken cable and its the one that connects to the handle. It won't cost too much to replace it. You don't have to pull it very hard to set the brakes.

Yeah the clips that hold the cable on the calipers isn't a very good setup and can come loose. But it sounds like something broke as mentioned.

If you have access to the underside of the car, yes.

for the clip, lift the car and take off the rear wheels,
Your loking for the ebrake cable, its routed through the oem LCA's follow that to the lever just besides the brake. there should be a clip that secures the cable to the brake assembly. If thats on the assembly on both sides, give the lever a pull and see what happens to the lever. the lever should pull up (moves towards the rear of the car) youll also see the rubber covering the cable squish up. if it doesent you snapped the cable or some variation of this. Get a new cable and install.
Good luck

heres a link to show you basically what it is.
Imaginge this is under your car. the clip (#4) is what we are all talking about. It will slide onto the cable and then onto the reatainer on the brake assembly
