I am having difficulty installing the trunk release button on my 08 V6. I am following the instructions found at http://www.cherod.com/mustang/HowTo/TrunkRelease.htm. My major issue is trying to find the (predominately) white wire with a pink stripe. I believe to have found a white/red and white/orange and certainly found a mostly pink wire with a white stripe. If it matters at all, I do not see that color wire leading to the latch in the trunk either. Is it possible that the 08 has a different wire harness than 05-07? Can anyone with an 08 confirm these instructions? Any help would be much appreciated!

I've done it my '07. Only thing I can suggest is find the wires in the trunk that activate the release and then try and locate them in the wiring harness.

 

I was confused for a short time when I began looking for the correct wire on my 07 in the beginning. You have to make sure you are looking in the bundle which goes under the Sill panel going to the back of the car. If you are too far forward you could be in a different bundle. Once I made sure I was in the bundle going to the back of the car I had no trouble locating the correct wire. Hope this helps.

 

thanks for the feedback so far. i'm going to take another look at it hopefully over the weekend, concentrating on those wires coming from the trunk. unfortunately, like i said, i do not recall seeing that white and pink wire leading to the back. any more input will appreciated especial from any 08'ers.

 

When I did it in my '07 I ended up finding the wire in the trunk leading to the latch like grampa stang said.
