Why are our motors "Modular" ? Please explain. What are non-modular motors?

Not true, you're pretty much saying all OHC motors are modular, which is far from true.

I believe it's the family of v8 engines that have been offered in the Mustangs starting with (correct me if I'm wrong) the fuel injected 5-liter.

Started with the 4.6L, which followed the 5.0. I believe modular comes from being able to swap components from different setups onto another motor. Like parts from an Explorer that uses a 2V Mod Motor can be swapped to the New Edge 2V Mod Motor. The Modular Motor family includes the 2V,3V, and 4V motors both 4.6L and 5.4L.

"The Modular engine is Ford Motor Company's current high volume overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 gasoline engine family."

Well I'm sorry if I offended you. I guess it would have been clearer to say that all modular motors are non-pushrod motors. Makes more sense, but I see what you're saying.

"Contrary to popular belief, the Modular engine did not get its name from its design or sharing of certain parts among the engine family. Instead, the name was derived from a manufacturing plant protocol, "Modular", where the plant and its tooling could be changed out in a matter of hours to manufacture different versions of the engine family."
