Default Painting Deck lid faux cap??

Hey guys, Since it is nice out, I would like to paint my faux cap. What is required in painting it properly? How many coats? Should I sand it before i paint it? How do you prevent the center from being painted. And how do you remove the emblem? Thanks guys.

Not sure if you saw this other thread but some of the members talk about how they painted their caps.

Check out our airbrushed ones as well

Looks great with our custom painted grill emblems as well

I would remove the emblem, paint the gas cap and replace with one of the emblems on the following link.
