Yea, I have a thought... mine won't be 17's for sure!!! Way too much wheel for drag racing. I plan on getting some light-weight drag wheels (15"), and then going with 29"x10.5" slicks, probably the MTs. I don't see a reason for drag radials unless you plan on running in a class that won't allow slicks. A 275/40 tire won't have much sidewall flex at all... why bother. Hell, my street tires are 275/50 Nittos, and I can still light them up.

i drag my car at the rock falls raceway in eau claire WI, I use 275 40 17 bfgoodrich traction ta drag radials; these tires work awesome and are much cheaper than most other slicks and the best part is they are street legal

Hey thanks guys !! Ill keep that info in mind, im just looking for any added help to cut down the 60ft times. Im leary of putting on all out slicks yet........just for harms sake of the drivetrain. I think drag radials should help out at least a little.

FWIW, this site carries the MT, BFG and other drag radials in various sizes: https://www.tiresavings.com/

Don, does a 15" wheel actually clear the brakes? And also just out of curiosity I have a few other questions too, what size of tire are you running on your fronts? And your "bullitt wheels" are those the same width as the factory 17's?

That's a very good question re: the 15" wheel... I haven't verified that. I guess I better find out soon (or remove the brakes).

All four of my wheels are 17x9... 1-inch wider than factory stock. I have 255/50s up front and 275/50s out back. All are Nitto 450 tires.

Good to know, I am 100% positive that 15's wont clear the fronts but thats no big deal anyway for a drag set up. But even the rear brakes are significantly larger than previous model years, I did some looking around and I cannot find a wide and light 16" wheel, becuase I defenitely agree that 17s are ridiculously large for a drag wheel not only becuase of sidewall height but even weight.

I guess we need to keep researching this. I wonder what wheels are on the Dragstang? Or maybe they re-engineered the back brakes.

Well if its just an issue of clearing the calipers I suppose you could run some crazy offsets to make a 15" clear no problem, but then you might have to worry about rolling fenders and what not. Buying new wheels for any car is always a PITA but this is ridiculous. If you could get a 15" to fit you would probably need atleast a 16" upfront which would look funny, so you mine as well just buy 2 rear wheels and leave the stock ones on the front (unless your REALLY serious about getting the best times).
