Default remove engine cover shaker scoop

I am wanting to remove the engine cover on my shaker scoop. I want to cut it on the lip right after the drain holes. What did you guys use to cut the cover (jig saw, dremmil with a cutting disk?). Also, did you put tape down before you cut it. Thanks. If anyone has some pics please post.

i just did this last weekend. I used suv/truck door edge molding to cover the cut edge. Just used my jigsaw with a multipurpose blade. I didnt tape it or anything. Just eyed it up and went to town. Very happy with the way it turned out.

Here's a few pics of my trimmed shroud. I used a Dremel with a cutoff wheel & taped the edges before cutting.
I left about 1/4"-1/2" of the lip on to hold the weatherstrip(past the drain channel)
Bought some generic door edge weatherstrip for the edges.
Sorry, but don't have any pics without the w/strip.

Actually both, although the weatherstrip doesn't seal against the hood completly. The front & most of the sides seal well, but not the rear or where the air tube runs.

sent you a pm aircare84. Just wondering where you got your weatherstripping from. I couldn't find anything like that where I looked.

I tried using a dremmel but found it much too difficult. in the end, a jigsaw made an easy task of the job. I laid down some masking tape first and then used a socket to mark the corners. you want to use at aleast a 9/16 socket to mark the corners. This will give you a smooth round corner and make it easier for the fender molding to surrond your cuts later on. Then, simply connect the lines with a stright edge.

Once you finish cutting, you can use black dender molding to surround your cut and give you a smooth fisnished look. A 10' roll is about $7 at your loacal auto parts store.
