Default Average Mount + Bal Price

Ok so i just ordered 4 new rims and am ordering tires within the next day or 2 for them. Now they are coming from seperate people and what not therefore i can't just have them pre-mounted/balanced.

I called a friend of mine up that works at a pitstop (like a oil change service place), and i told him i had 4 18x9.5 rims that i was going to need new tires M&B'd on. He said it would probably run $25-$30 PER TIRE/RIM.

Is this seriously the average cost per tire for M&Bing? You think there would be someplace else offering to do it for less, locally?

If this is too high what about is the average cost per tire? Is this hard to do as in do i need to research a place so like my tires don't fall off the rim while im driving down the road because i had a dumb mechanic doing things, or should most places be pretty reputable with this?

Anybody have any brick and mortar places they know of that do M&Bing? Autozone mabye? Pep boys?

That seems alright. Don't forget that shops try to charge for taking the tires off, putting them on, disposing of your other stuff, and some environmental fees, and it'll be around 200-220 after tax

That's about the price I was quoted at. Especially if the tires are low profile they're harder to mount (so i'm told).

If someone walks in where I work, 10 to mount, 13 to balance ea
I take care of my buds tho. And make sure no damage.

Dude, where do you work?! Should all places be that cheap? I was told mounting and balancing out take a couple hours so $120 seemed about right for that amount of labor.

Mine was free, yay for family friends! I have seen prices as low as $10 and ad high as $50 around here, just depends on where you go.

I know I usually pay $20 for each rim and tire here in California. It really depends on the place you are going and what their labor rate is. You can also go to a couple places and price shop.

I know sears auto around here charges 15 for a mount and then $5 for a "quicky" balance or 15$ for a dynamic balance. So around here its 20-30 per tire unless you hit a mom and pop shop. -Jon
