Default Help Wheel / Tire Experts!

I have an 09 GT with the 18x9 stock alum polished wheels. I was going to order the 18x9 CC Black Saleens and just use my 235/50/ZR18's to get me by til I need to replace them with better.

Mike mentioned to me that this wouldnt work, but would it be that bad? I just dont understand how they are on my stock 18x9's but wont work the the Saleens?

Can someone help me understand? He just mentioned that I will need a 255 or 275 to protect the wheel.

Wouldnt I be in the same situation on a swap out?

No dis-respect to Mike, but like you I don't understand either and again no dis-respect, but if Mike can not tell you why it won't work then...

the stock wheel is 8.5, you're measuring wrong. don't worry about it. The'll be ok if you drive slow and for short periods of time.

the stock wheels are 18x8.5, not 18x9. A 235 on a 18x9 will give you some nice sidewall stretch worthy of a MkII VW.

2 weeks ago I might have said get a 255/45/18, but if the money is tight, and you still have some decent rubber on your stockers, it will be ok.

A friend of mine just bought some 18x9's and wanted to use the stock 235/50/18's since he got some for free. So I mounted them up for him and it was not bad looking, I expected it to look funny.

When it does come time for new rubber, most definitely go with 255/45's tho.

yup I'm poor right now
the "Boss" gave me go ahead on the wheels, but no cash for tires so use what you have

they fit better than we thought

besides if for "some" reason these tires become bald

I will have to invest in a new set, and yes the next set will be 255
but these will get me by.

Check the Tire Rack website. I'm not sure what tire you have. I looked up a BFGoodrich P235/50R/18 and they say the wheel width should be 6.5 inches to 8.5 inches.

That actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it would.
