Proper touch up paint method?
Ok well ive got quite a few ket marks, scratches, and chips in my 07 that drive me crazy. Many of them have been filled a little with the touchup paint i have laying in my shop. Well they leave big bumper or ridges wherever they are, or brush strokes depending on how i applied it at the time. A while back i tried wet sanding and kinda messed up my hood a bit (i think it just needs a good buff).
So is there a good way to level the touch up paint out with the regular paint without risking more damage? Would a clay bar help any? The scratches and dents in my stang drive me crazy! Ill get PDR soon for the dents but i gotta work on the scratches, what should i do?
also, i tried searching for a couple different key words so dont kill me if theres a few how tos i didnt find.

Basic steps I use with the touchup paint. Clean the area chip area of all wax. Gently apply thin layers of maint to the inside of the chip. Do not put a lot of paint at any one time. It usually takes me 4 to 5 layers to get the chip slightly mounded above the car's paint. I give each coat 10 minutes between layers and then 30 minutes after final coat. I then very gently wet sand the area with 2000 grit sand paper unitl the chipped area is level with the car. The area should be dull but level when you have it right. Make sure you do not put to much pressure when sanding or you will go right thru the clear coat.
Once satisfied with the levelness, use rubbing compound to the dull area to bring back the shine. I usually hand rub with the compound. Each one I fill, I get a little better at doing it. Just takes practice.
