hard shifting?
not sure if this is a problem or something leading to a problem. i normally shift between 2000-3000 rpm. between that range in any gear goin to another it's pretty rough putting it in gear. almost as if it pauses half way in gear and i have to pull/push the handle harder to put it in gear. now if i shift above 3000 rpm i don't notice this at all. i have just over 30000 miles on my car. no way could the clutch be goin out this early huh? does anyone have any idea of what this could be or am i just limp wristing it?! if i need to clarify anything let me know and i'll do the best i can. thank yall
Our cars aren't known for smooth shifting b/c it's remote mounted and their is a certain degree of torquing from the engine that shifts the trans slightly, making it harder to get into gear. It doesn't sound like anything is necessarily that wrong with the trans, it just isn't the best designed setup. You could try getting an aftermarket shifter if you don't already have one. Something like an mgw could certainly give you a smoother feel. If that isn't enough you could get a CHE k member with tq limiters. This basicly bolts the rear of your trans right to the frame of the car so it can't twist under load.
Are you on a stock shifter? I noticed mine got a lot harder after a hurst was added( so i moved to a tri-ax) Also, when my throw out bearing went it got HARDER to shift at any RPM, yet it would still go through all of the gears, just harder. I ended up pulling the TOB out and it fell apart in a few pieces. After i replaced that and the clutch( i was already in there) it shifted great. I have that CHE Tq limiter and i noticed that it stiffens up shifting a hell of a lot, shifting didnt change much except at higher RPM. Also with that CHE brace, it goes right behind your oil plug, so next time you change your oil, it splashes on that and runs all over. -Jon
