Now that you guys have mentioned it, the longer throughout the day I drive, its more pronounced and always happens right before the point when the clutch would normally grab. Is it unusual for a clutch to go out before 36K miles? And if it is theb clutch what recommendations would yall have. I'm staying NA and have no plans going over 400 to the wheels. Install time and usual cost in hours?

I believe you can test a shot clutch if you put it in 4th and when you let out the clutch if the car doesn't stall you know there is a problem.

If that is indeed the test, then my clutch may not be as bad as I thought. It stalled. Talked to a buddy of mine and he thinks it's the clutch too. How long does it take for a clutch to go out once it starts slipping?

Ive had one go out pretty shorty after it started slipping.... but Ive seen some last a little longer. Maybe a stage 1 clutch if your planning on staying NA, or maybe a stage 2+, I've heard stage 2 sucks.... jmo

Yes it's possible, but it depends specially on how the driver engages the gears. It's a fact that if a clutch slips the engine speed increases with no increase in the vehicle speed. Any noise? Check your lubrication. Check for air in the clutch hydraulic release system.

I had a cousin that went through 2 clutches in 15k miles . After more investigation she was holding her foot on the clutch between gears when she was going down the road. (even the highway) Driving with her you would not of noticed that the clutch was slipping at all. It was tinny but enough to burn em up. ''If driving casually try to put your foot on the floor between each shift'' MY DAD SAID. Now I know why .

I just was making the point that driving style and clutch use efficiency has a lot to do with clutch life.

I talked to a guy that builds up cars from the ground up for a hobby and he thinks it might just be a combination of the gears I have and the cams causing clutch shudder and its not slipping... Thoughts?

If the problem happened immediately after your car was modded, then your friend may be on the $. But if it started a while after the car was modded, then I'm also leaning toward a bad clutch as the cause.

It happened maybe a few days after the cams were installed and tuned. On a cold start it feels perfect until later when the car warms up (as in a few hours after the first startup).
