Thoughts on the future.......
ok, so i have a v6 and i have yet to do any performance mods to it yet. The reason being is that i dont know how far to go. So far i am planning to keep it til far after college and it is going to be a daily driver. I just wanted some input as to what would be the best route. I am able/planning to do all of these myself, so i dont have to pay for install. Any type of input is much appreciated, thanks!
Plans:
1. Dont do major changes to the car, just little things like a CAI and tune. Total= around $600
2. X-charge it when the new HIPO plus 2.8'' comes out with a IC, and tune. Total= around $6000
3. Engine swap with a totaled GT with no harm done to the engine. Total= $2500 inc. sale of v6 engine
4. Save up for ever and buy a 5.4 liter crate engine from FRPP. Total= $12000 inc. sale of v6 engine
5. Just go out after (or during) college and buy a used 05-09 mustang GT

i voted the 5.4 liter engine because that is what im going to do. but yea that will take a long time. and swaping out a gt engine is going to cost more then that man. remember, u need to replace alot more, then just the engine, new fuel lines, radiator for the larger engine, preferably a stronger transmission... swaping out an engine doesnt just stop, it requires alot more work.

I voted 5 because that is what I did. I didnt plan on selling my V6...which is why I kept it in the family with my lil bro, but I wanted power. The GT is a great starting point and with the 12K you spend on that 5.4L motor...you could have an extremely nasty GT

I voted for #1.. intake/tune, possibly 4.10s? Not sure about you, but if you have more power you might get into trouble lol. If you're gonna be in school anyways, might as well have a great looking ride, style, and enough get up and go for day to day driving.

I voted for #5, because that's basically what I did. My V6 is now my winter car. Actually works great in the snow with winter tires, sand in the truck, manual trans and traction control. Heck, I actually think it's a pretty good winter car at the end of the day, and my GT gets to stay out of the elements.

the reality is #4 will cost you alot more then $12k. You gotta consider installation costs, a new tranny, and variety of other crap that you would have to get to make it work.
if the power isnt that important to you just mod your v6. otherwise wait a couple months and you should be able to get a good deal on used gt.

I voted option 5 because, as a GT owner, I'd love to have a 3.8/4.0 vert as a daily driver sometime in the next couple of years.
Save up either way because you never know what might happen...if you're going that route, wait to buy a used GT until well after the 2010's have come out.
