Default Newbie needs Power braking tips

Ok So I got my 05 GT 5spd almost 2 months ago. I've got the shifting down Pretty well. I just need tips on power braking especially before I hit the tracks. I've gotten it to power brake only 2 times since I've had it. Every other time I manage to kill it. Just wanted to see what the pros on here can say as far as advice to get it down pat. I've also tried with TC on and with it off .

power braking meaning brake stand in the burnout box?

if you are running stock tires just go around...it won't do much for you

but if you do want to roast them this works for me:

1 = stick it in 1st
2 = rev to 5 grand
3= pop the clutch , pin the gas and immediately slam on the brakes
4 = watch the rev limiter and the smoke in your mirrors
5= ease off the brakes and let off the gas when you want to finish

Hmm maybe I wasn't revving high enough?? That may be part of the problem

With stock tires you shouldn't even need to rev to 5k. When I did mine on stock tires I went to about 3k, then dumped the clutch. I found that the key is in how hard you apply the brakes, too hard and you'll stall it (probably what you are doing), but too soft on the brakes and you will move.

True maybe Im just getting anxious and put down the brake too hard to avoid moving too much. Like I've said I've gotten it for a few seconds before. I'm just gonna keep practicing.

For more smoke, start out in 2nd gear (you will need more rpm to get it started and it is harder on the clutch). this allows you to spin your tires faster, 1st gear only spins them to around 25 mph, 2nd gear will spin your tires to around 70 mph.
