Default Hardened Input Shaft?

Well, a while back my transmission went out on me and it's finally (FINALLY!) getting fixed. I purchased just about everything EXCEPT an input shaft, and low and behold I snapped my freakin' input shaft! I really didn't think I was putting down enough power, all of the guys I've seen with broken input shafts are F/I.

Anyway, it's at the shop now and they can throw a new stocker on there...but I'm looking for a little insurance because I definitely don't want to go through this again. Does anybody know of where I can purchase a hardened input shaft (and just the input shaft)? I know some places won't sell them unless they do the rebuild.
