Default borla axleback promblem.

Does anyone else have a problem with the left exhaust sliding back an inch or so? It seems like the clamp will not hold it in place for some reason. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I had a problem with my passenger side coming loose after a few thousand miles and tightening the clamp didn't help. I ended up getting a standard pipe clamp from a local autostore and added it right up against the existing clamp (too lazy to remove the old one). Been fine ever since.

If you've got access to a wire fed mig welder, you can always throw a quick tack on it too.

Mine rattled like crazy in the beginning. My clamps kept coming loose no matter how much I tightened them up. I took the car to a local muffler shop, and they reclamped it and tack welded it in different spots. No more rattle!

i had the same issue. its a quick fix. if you look on the O/A pipe there is a notch. slide the muffler on up to the notch. now take the clamp and put it over the notch and tighten it. it should be solid after that. it worked for me i have no problems.

Your best bet is to stay away from the factory notch. every time i put the clamp over it i could feel a leak! the notch seems to keep the band clamp from tightening down evenly all the way around because its higher than the sheet metal of the pipe. I actually took a grinder and removed the notch and was much better! also make sure your band clamp is in just the right spot. line-up the edge of the clamp evenly with the edge of the axleback pipe (this is the weakest point of the metal) and tighten down as hard as you can by hand. if the clamp is too high up on the pipe it wont pinch down enough to seal tight!

no problems, the x/h pipe is seperate from the over axle pipe.

This just got me to thinking about the rattle I get when I first start my car. When it's cold it rattles, but after I drive it for a few minutes it goes away. The rattle could be caused by a loose clamp that as the exhaust gets hot everything expands and gets tight. I'll have to investigate this soon.
