Guys half the stuff we do to our cars can be considered rice, ie Body mods with no engine mods, loud exaust(hopfully no fart can mustang though, god please).

OP http://www.ledlightdisplay.com/
cover around speaker can be removed I believe, buy led strip since it uses less power than a neon one from my knowledge get it to fit between cover and speaker. For power best way I can think of is to sotor speaker power wire with the ones for lights, but sooner or later you might have trouble with wiring so I would recommend higher gauge wires for power. I think it would be really nice if you had it changing to same color as amibiant lighting. I love my ambiant lights its funny how people are so ohhh about it tell em to get in your car and press the button it's funny lol.

I would go neon and not LED if your going to do this. But you could probably get color changing LED's so if you get tired of one you could switch. But imo neon has a better through and through glow to it if thats what your going for. I would be interested to see what this would look like in our cars.

I gotta agree that LED is probably not going to get you the look you are after here, but I think that Neon will pose a problem as well. Providing that you are going to have some type of interface to pulse the light, either independently or with the music, I think that due to the nature of the Neon, you may get frustrated in syncing it up with your LED's etc. I would instead look at Fiber Optic Ambient lighting, which should sync well with your LED and incandesant lights.

PS. Thanks mygt500 I was about to get pissed about the whole unsolicited rice thing. LOL

The neon has a reaction time comparable to LEDs but not incandecent bulbs.
Just exactly what type of neon would you like?
Or something more like this?
Or maybe this?
A simple Google search of 'neon speaker rings' brought
up all sorts of vendors for the items you desire.
Doubt if anyone around here has purchased any
to be able to recommend the best out there...

I don't see why people are making comments about neon lighting that goes UNDER the car when the OP was talking about neon that goes around the shaker speakers. Personally I think it would be cool but still really distracting.

What i would love to do is run red EL (electroluminescent) wire across the dash just like some people do with welting. I bought a blue strip of el wire a couple years ago to play with and its cool stuff, but its only good at night (not that you can see the mycolor during the day)

And in my opinion rice is just stuff thats way over played like lambo doors and huge spoilers. Its not that they cant look good, its just that everyone does it to be cool. I see alot of trends in the mustang world too but since our cars are new (and sexy) its not called out. Honestly ask about appearance mods and you will get a ton of "louvers", "chin", and "blackout". Not that it doesnt look good, i love mine, but its just what alot of people do. Atleast neon will be different

The subs are 8", not sure about the size of the enclosure, though. You might swing by Jack's Mobile Electronics right off of University by the O'Reilly's, one of my friends got a bunch of wiring and other stuff there when he was doing his sub enclosure and amp rack. I'm sure they have lighting and stuff. I'm assuming you're in College Station...
