Default Need Help Identify

ok guys, i'm new here and also new to mustang. Anyway i just bought my first mustang. Its a 2006 GT, it's automatic, i know people asked me why not stick, well my wife also wants to drive it any other day so ... yeah ...
It has 17,000 miles only so i suppose its worth it.

Anyway i got a question here with the body modification, if any of u guys out there familiar with it. Cause i would like to replace em, some of em looks pretty tired. And it has these cobra symbols everywhere, what do they mean, and a GT350 striped underneath the sides, what does it mean as well.

I bought it from a dealership so they also have no idea. And if u can also appraise it for me if i made a good buy on this or maybe a disaster. Thx for the help ...

Hey there, congrats on the purchase!

I'm not quite sure what you're asking in reference to the body, but as far as the cobra badges go, the previous owner must have tried to make a GT350 tribute out of his car. The GT350 was a Shelby-versioned Stang, thus the Cobra badges, etc. There is no "GT350" edition of the 2005-2009 model Mustang. It's all pretty much for show.

Enjoy your new ride!

well GT350 is really just a referance to HP, which from what I can see in the pix is a little high. As for the cobras, those don't belong. They are a badge for the Shelby mustang GT500 (Cobra) only. (2005-2009 speaking)

I see, thx for the reply guys. I kinda suspected it from before that there's no such thing as a GT350 on 2006 models. Well anyway i'm enjoying it so far, a bit off a gas guzzler but thats fine i dont drive too far, my workplace is like 4 miles away.

sonicmetalicS197, can i ask a question? Fully sound deadened cabin, does it mean u have a sound proof cabin? Cause i would like to have that, the muffler have been changed i guess it's so loud, cant listen to musics. Any suggestions where to go or what should i do? thx

No prob man, it's the addition of a dampener (like tar on one side aluminum on the other) and a layer of foam under all of the trim/carpet/roof. It cut down on prolly 80% of the interior noise and made the speakers sound sooo much better. It also killed pretty much all of the interior rattles and just makes the car feel/sound soooo much better when closing doors and stuff. There are two writeup and a thread by me on this. Deff worth the work IMO
Everything can be purchased at secondskinaudio.com and it takes about 20-30 hours of work depending on experience and work ethic lol

werent the carol shelby mustangs supposed to be rated at 350? sounds like the previous owner had no idea about the history and present of mustangs, and doesnt know the meanings of the symbols... like im pretty sure that that vinyl stripe that runs along the trunk is also supposed to be on the older california specials, like the previous owner just saw tings that lookd cool and stuck it on.

also i it just me or doesnt that rear wheel look odd? maybe its the angle shot from the camera, but it looks like it was lifted or something, the angle may just be messin with my perception

Congrats on your purchase.... yeah someone dressed it up a bit.. but if you like it, leave it. If you don't I am sure you can get some simple GT badges online cheap.
Nice color by the way!

Yeah, i really don't have no idea either with all the mustang's history and stuffs. But according to my personal opinion it looks good so far so i probably will re-dress it bit by bit. My first plan is to get a nav dvd that i really like a avic-z3. It should be arriving 2 days from now. Can't wait ...

Guys anyway what's the best gasoline that i should put in it. Will regular works just fine and won't damage the engine? Or should i put anything in higher rate, but i'm not really a racer type. Thx for the comments guys, i really gonna enjoy the car and being here as well ...

If it were stock, then 87 octane would run just fine in it. No need for higher octane. But the previous owner installed a cold air intake (CAI). That's the cone shaped air filter. Most CAI's require an aftermarket tune, and can be set for any octane. It's fairly likely that the previous owner tuned the car for 93 octane only. But not necessarily. I would try 87 octane and pay attention to the engine. If you don't get any knocking, then you're probably okay with 87. If you do get knocking, you'll have to try higher octanes.
