Default Kooks - Ceramic Coating

Hey guys, I’ll be purchasing some Kooks LTs here in the coming weeks and just wanted to get some advice. The Kooks are 304 stainless steel so they don’t need to be ceramic coated for corrosive protection, however I know that coating will help reduce underhood temps. The problem I’m having is that I’m not sure how much of a performance enhancement that actually equates to. I don’t spend lots of time at the dragstrip or drive the car hard frequently so I don’t think that I need to worry about heat soak.

For mostly being a daily driver, will getting them coated be a worthwhile investment?

Its expensive. I paid like 490 to have the Kooks long tubes coated inside and outside (by JetHot) with their Sterling Silver coating, the high flow cats on the outside and the x-pipe on the outside. It will reduce temps 300 degrees on the outside of the headers. Is it necessary? no absoulutely not.

I would think that if you don’t run it hard all the time , then it isn’t necessary to have them coated. I definitely want to hear them when you get it installed though! Will you be trying it yourself or taking it to a shop?

Wow, 300 degree reduction is very substantial!!

Maryland Speed has a promotion where if you buy the kooks and enter the 'secret promo code' then you get free Jet Hot coating... :-)

The headers are $1,297 from Maryland Speed...

Well.....Whats the promo code?

I'm gonna get the Kooks here in the next month and want the coating. Not that an extra $180 or whatever really matters on a $1300 set of headers. Free shipping rocks though. Why pay for shipping if you don't have too

"freecoatkooks"

Another member on here shared it in a thread a few weeks ago... I haven't tried using it myself though.
