oil brands?
I have to change the Oil in the stang and I was wondering, since royal purple quart is $9 and I need 6, does it really make a difference to use that brand versus another? Which other are good?

Any time you talk about brands of oil, you are heading down a slippery slope.
Some people swear by a particular brand. Others buy whatever happens to be on sale at the time.
I have not heard reports of engine damage in our cars that can be traced to any oil, if the oil is of the proper weight, changed as often as recommended by Ford, and a proper oil filter is used.

By the way I'd get smacked in the butt also, I'm using Motorcraft synth blend not Castrol...

Buy what you can afford and prefer. Providing you're not going to the track very often and drive like any normal (occasionally insane) S197 owner, most any name brand and a decent filter, changed at an appropriate frequency, will give you the same engine longevity.
The GT's come from the factory with Motorcraft 5W20 synthetic blend. You can get that relatively cheap at WallyWorld plus the Motorcraft filter and stick with the Owners Manual recommended frequency of 7500 miles and the car body will rot before the engine fails from oil related issues.
I buy Amsoil 0W20 and Amsoil filter and change mine at 10,000 miles. I use M1 in my SUV (tow vehicle) with an M1 filter and change it at 8,000 to 10,000 miles.
