Thoughts on wheels on Americanmuscle.com?
I was just checking out the wheels on www.Americanmuscle.com and it looks like they offer a broad selection of reproduction (?) factory wheels, most of which seem to have "SR" on the center cap, but this is a brand I'm not familiar with.
How do these compare to the originals for looks, strength and weight?
Should one avoid any particular styles that they offer?
IIRC, Ford never offered the Magnum 500 style wheels in 18"...does the styling hold up to the bigger size?
Thanks for any input, guys!!

I don't know about the "SR" wheels, but I bought a set of 20" Cragars for my 'Stang from American Muscle. I couldn't be more pleased. I bought the package deal with the tires, mounting and balancing and couldn't be happier. I was kinda suprised to see "made in China" stickers on the Cragars, but then again what isn't made in China these days?
American muscle is pretty good.. fast shipping, great customer service! I got my chrome DD 18inch bullitts from them, however there are already some small bubbles in the chrome finish, i havent even had them a year yet! not so crazy about the made in china thing ( you get what you pay for i guess).
All of the wheels we sell either meet or beat OEM structural and finish quality specifications. They are all load tested designs and are DOT approved. They come with a Lifetime Structural Defect Warranty and a 1 Year Finish Defect Warranty.
Off hand I can think of very few wheel companies that are not made in china, and those are usually custom wheels and crazy expensive. You will find that the vast majority of wheels on the market, while designed in America like ours, are manufactured in a different country. Even American Racing Brand wheels are made in china, and as Hicompression said the Cragers are too. My factory Ralley II wheels on my old GTO were made in Canada even all the way back in the '70s. Being made in a different country does not equal poor craftsmanship, our wheels are made with just as high quality manufacturing as you would find in any reputable manufacturer around the world.
Chrome always requires special cleaning and care no matter what brand wheels you buy, especially if you live in an area near a body of salt water or an area that gets harsh winter conditions. Our wheels utilize a high quality, state of the art chroming process and are triple-chrome plated. Even so as with all chrome wheels, a high quality chrome cleaner and protectant should be used frequently on all finished chrome surfaces.
That said, the company that manufacturers the wheels does warranty them as long as there is not obvious neglect. If you haven't had them a year you probably want to give us a call soon seeing that there is a One Year Warranty on defects in the finish and also a Life Time Warranty on structural defects.
