But... I still want the Saleen SC!!!!
There are two around where I live. I sat in and test drove one the day I picked up my GT. I wasn't too impressed. 25 more hp than the GT, and it costs almost $15,000 more. Also since the seats are race seats they are little uncomfortable to get in and out of and even ride in. My friend was really looking at them, and when he sat in it he said the same thing, so he bought a 05 GTO, which he has already traded in on a BMW 3 series.
Bought a sonic blue Saleen. It is awesome, you won't believe how much attention it gets. I love the seats and the way it drives. My wife didn't like the regular GT at all but when she saw the Saleen she fell in love. When you drive the car around it is like you are a movie star. In fact you get so much attention it is a little bothersome. With everything Saleen changed on the car and with the added resale value the Saleen is a good deal. It thought about buying a regular GT and then spending 8-10 thousand on it. Sorry but that was a bad idea. Even though I spent a little less it was worth a lot less. If you like the Saleen and you have the money go for it. Plus later if you want more power you can have the dealer add the Saleen supercharger for 400+ hp.
I was all set to buy a Saleen convertible until a sat in the coupe Saleen. The seats were a little smaller and tighter and just too uncomofratble for me. I immediately sat in a GT and took about 5 seconds to turn around to salesman and say, ORDER ME A GT. He also said that the ride is very stiff compared to the GT adn the 20" wheels make it so you feel every little bump in the wheel and your rear.
The money wasn't the issue at all. I just preferred the GT. It certainly doesn't hurt that the GT is so much less either. By the way, even though it has more horsepwer it is slower in 0-60 and in the quater mile. See my other post in here with the six mustang shootout. The GT was 4.9 0-60 and the Saleen was 5.1 or 5.2 i think. I can find the article again if anyone wants it. The saleen is much tighter suspension and will corner better, etc., but it is not faster.
The dealer can add the Saleen supercharger for you to a regular GT for $4995 plus $1,800 installation.

5.0 Mustang mag found the Saleen to be .2 faster than a stock GT and of course the SC Saleen dusted the stock mustang. A couple tenths of a second can be an individual car or even a ringer that the factory gave them. Ever other mag I've seen put the GT at 5.1 and the Saleen at 5.0 or 4.9. None of that really matters much to me anyway. I am an autocrosser and the Saleen will dust a GT and even an 04 Cobra on the twistys so that is the way I went.
