Default 18 v 20

I am trying to decide whether or not to get 18" wheels or 20" wheels. What is the difference between the two, other then looks.

I am worried the 18s will not look as good as the 20s

You should be worried that they won't look as good, because they won't.

The 20s weigh a little more, and cost a little more. The weight isn't that huge of a difference to me anyway, and if you're getting a turbo in the future, the little bit of weight won't matter.

I could have gone either way. It was a hard decision for me as well.
My wife got me my 20's last Christmas. I like them and people complement on them.
I can tell you what you are going to get on here.
This is an age old battle on the forum.
18"- Performance
20"- Style

20" really fill out our Mustangs nicely.
Its definitely a personal preference.
I would find a style you like first. See what size they come in. Then see what tires you want. Might help you make the decision easier.

yeah, i am looking at the 18 stock rims with that big fat overweight rubber hugging them, and it looks so plain and boring.

It sounds to me like you will be happier with 20's.

20s are heavier and bigger which equals slower car and smaller tires as far as aspect ratio is concerned for the most part...

My vote is 18's......20's look a little wagon wheelish to me....but I have to admit that depends on the wheels. Both can look great.

Here are my 18's with some big fat overweight rubber hugging them!

Let's start with the tire size choices that you are now considering - for both wheel diameters. Make sure that they have adequate load capacity for the car. For now, figure on at least Load Index 97 (that's what a 235/50-18 is good for).

Figure that a 20" tire will have about one inch less sidewall with which to absorb impact than an 18, assuming that you're trying to stay close to 27" tall tires.
