Default Ford (Factory Installed) Cruise Control

I was told by a friend Not to Use the Cruise Control installed by Ford.

Reason was that Ford's cruise control tends to fail reasonably soon with regular use.

Now, I live and die by cruise control, not sure I can do without.[:'(]

So, question:[ul][*] Has any one else had this experience?[*] Is there any truth to this rumor?

never heard that... ever... but...

*I* would think just the oposite... use it AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.. then when it fails, you are still under warrantee for it...

I would go for it.

If truly has that reputation - there will be a TSB out very soon for it.

If it hurts anyone because of that reputation, you will get $$$ in the class action suite.

I doubt seriously if there are problems with it. Ford has been doing factory Cruise for quite a few years now and have a pretty fool proof system.

I'm NOT going to worry about using mine what-so-ever!

A question for your friend though!... WHERE did he get this information, and can he show you proof?

IF he got it from "Some Guy".. and can't give you proof... he is blowing fumes out his Fart Can Muffler!

I've never heard that before, but honestly this is the first time in 10 years I've bought a Ford again. I've used mine a few times, and it actually works pretty well.

I'd agree with Herk though. The second you start to think that it's going, use it until it breaks. Get everything fixed under warranty that you can.

I've never understood the "don't use it, it might break" mentality. Why pay for a feature you'll never use?

Simple. He know you live and die by Cruise Control. What better way to give you a "jab" since he is jealous of your new ride? I'd use it till it breaks, I doubt it'll happen, under warranty.

Personally, I think your friend heard of a TSB that IS out on some other Ford vehicles (trucks from early 2000 to 2002) that did experience cruis control problems. Like most in the mob mentality, he failed to pay attention which vehicles it affected and then filled in the blanks..suddently, 'There's a TSB or problems with the 2005 Mustang cruise controls, yadda yadda...."

BigDawg,
My cruise control went out on my 05 Mustang after it was about 2 months old with maybe 3,000 miles on it. Ford fixed it though and I have't had any problems since. I now have 11,000 miles. They never did say what they had found.
