Default Weird stereo problem

I have the base stock sound system and stock headunit. For some reason all of a sudden sometimes i get no sound. I have tried the radio, cd, and my ipod and all produce no sound at the speakers. The headunit works fine. Its been doing this for about 2 weeks. If i open the drivers side door and shut it pretty hard then the sound comes back. Works everytime. This has me baffled. Any thoughts?

My thought is a loose wire or a bad ground connection. If so, the big question is which wire or ground connection?

if it works when you slam the door them im going to guess that there is a loose wire.

My Shaker 500 did this just this morning..... I could change stations... CD... whatever... NO SOUND... However, I COULD NOT TURN IT OFF... when I pulled out the key and opened the door, it did not turn off either...

Took a couple trys and it finally went out... Shut the door, fired up and it's fine....

So... I'm interested too!

I had two ideas...one of which was shot down when I read that you have the base sound system. But I'll share them anyways.

1. The shaker 500 and 1000 have two amplifiers bolted behind the drivers kickpanel. I would imagine if one of them had a loose connection a door slam might jar it back. But if you have the base system....I have no idea. The base system may or may not have amps back there too.

2. Second idea was the water leak TSB. Anybody know if that negatively affects the radio too?

I have taken the doors on and off my car and know how the door wiring is run. I can't think of what else the problem would be.
