Default PA Emissions Inspection

I know there are several emissions posts out there but i wanted to get some feedback from PA people and thier expiriences with emissions inspection. I recently got Kooks LT headers and high flow cats installed and was wonding if it will pass the emissions inspection. I'm in the northern counties region and from the research i've done on the state website they only do a gascap and visual on the car. So any input from some fellow Pennsyvanian's would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm...good question but since you have CATs still you should be good but I worry about the O2 sensors and if they were shut off etc and that would raise a red flag if they run codes off the OBD-II. We dont have to do emissions checks in MI anymore and when we did they used a tailpipe sniffer and you either pased or failed. If you fail you fix the problem and come back for a retest. Sorry no help except for the bump TTT!

Thanks for the reply, the shop put in the TMS O2 extension harness so they should read with the custom tune. I know alot of mail order tunes delete them for OR h or x pipes.

I'm in PA, Cumberland county. Each county has leaway in what they do. Cumberland county does an OBDII port check + visual + gas cap. With the OBDII check you are allowed 1 or 2 (can't remember which) check engine lights before failure. For the most part however, you can have a tuner turn off the lights. For example, the rear O2 sensors are a common problem with aftermarket tunes, long tubes, removing CATS, etc, thus many tuners will turn them off and you can pass the test this way. But in your case, it sounds like your county doesn't do the OBDII check, so it doesn't matter, you should pass.

Here, in Center county, they only do a visual check and the gas cap.
The dealer told me I would pass as long as I have cats, even if they were relocated.

How much did it cost you to get the LTs installed?

I have a set that needs to be installed. The dealer quoted me $420 + Tax, which I think is a good price, but I'm not sure I want the dealership to install them as they fu*ked up my aftermarket struts.

No performance shops around here, the closest is CJ's which is a 2 hour drive.

I am by you in Bucks - visually you will pass, you have cats.
The tune is the question - make sure who ever does your tunes gives you one where the emissions control systems are on. Most high output tunes they turn the emissions off.

I'm in the Philadelphia are. I had no issues passing my emissions just the other day. As long as you don't have a CEL, you have cats on the car, you're golden. No worries
