Lightbulb 2005 GT First Mods

Hello all, I am new to this forum and am looking to do some upgrades on my newly purchased mustang. But I'm not sure where the money would be best spent. I know I want to do performance tweaks, not visual. Here are the first two things I am thinking. A new throttle spacer and possible headers. I hope to not only improve power, but maybe get a little better gas mileage too. I also eventually hope to get a strut tower and maybe a new cold air intake. Also, how much do the cold air intakes help? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Eric

ditch the TB spacer, it's been proven useless...

and save yourself some money and jump straight to the supercharger...you'll end up buying it :P...

on a serious note: Cold Air Intake + Tune is a def first must mod, check out Brenspeed.com for starters, I have the JLT combo and did wonders when I bought my car.

definately save your money when it comes to the throttle body spacer. cai & tune is the best bang for your buck

get a CAI that requires a tune. Not one of those $19.99 CAI on ebay. Trust brenspeed, you can't go wrong there.

Thanks for the feedback! With the CAI, will this help with mpg too, or just torque and power? also, are headers worth the cash?

Headers are worth the cash in the bigger picture. If you only plan to keep your car for a short time and want to make it faster, then CAI/Tune is the best path. Headers will really shine once you start pushing more air/fuel ie cams, nitrous, s/c.

The tunes help everything. MPG is helped the least.

@rubrignitz - I plan on having the car for a long time, but don't know if I'll do any serious modding such as s/c. If this is the case, should I avoid the headers all together and put my money somewhere else? (I'm only 18 and dont have finances to do serious upgrades, I haven't even paid the car off yet :P)
