Default Best Tire question

I have just bought (finally!) a set of 18 X 9 wheels with +36 offset, they are chrome bullitts...

Question - what are the fattest tires I can get on these? I think I can fit 255's on front and 285's on back but not too sure without someone confirming this???

I cannot wait to finally get these wheels on, will take pictures and start a new post when its finally finished!

Even more important!

Make sure the tires your buying are ROUND!

Square tires cause wheel hop really bad!

Just out of curiosity. What is that above your GT logo?
That is the setup that I was thinking about doing. But that was with staggered rims. 18x8 & 18x9
255/45 & 285/40 BF Goodrich G Force
Not exactly sure though. Get a second opinion.

turn signal.

Tires - I am gonna go 255/45/18 at front and 285/40/18 at the back - almost certain that will work and nobody else has said much in reply to this post so I just hope that works!

Thanks for your help guys!

Hey nickbrace, I'll talk to you... I ordered the Saleen 18x9 +36mm rim. I'm having them put on a 275/40/18 and a 285 just to see the difference before I decide. The 285 will stick out alittle further past the rim on a 9inch but I want to see for myself... delurker has the 285 on his but he got the 9.5 rim (pics on rims&tires). Anyway, the most popular size I've seen here in Vegas is the 255 for a 8inch and the 275 for the 9inch, anything smaller will expose your rim the curb damage.
Profile (30,35,40,45,etc) seems to be a personal preference out here, I suppose drop kits will dictate sidewall height. Unless you plan on lowering your GT, the 40 would be the smallest I would go....

I would check the tire manufacturers website(s). They specify recommended wheel widths for each of their tires. But, I would suspect a 285 would work on a 9" wheel.
