Default Burnt out clutch (nooooooooooooooooo!!)

So I was driving home and shifting into 3rd gear when the mat below my feet fell forward and pushed on the gas
I saw my car redline for 8-10 seconds without being able to do anything about it

I pulled over and looked under the car (smelled like straight sulfur) and I noticed the clutch is prolly burnt out.

*****I just want to know if this is covered by ford's warranty (car is 8 months old)...*****

Hopfully this is just a good excuse for getting a nice new clutchy

Or not!

Ohhhh this suck! First day of summer too!!

It says in the owners manual that the clutch is not covered under warranty. How many miles do you have on the car? Do you slip the clutch at stop lights to hold yourself steady instead of using the brakes?

No. I only ride the clutch through 1st into 2nd... But with that 'damage' the clutch should last years and years...

Your clutch is probably fine. I smoked my clutch good a few times shifting into 2nd gear and it took a blower to make it slip. I got into a bad habit of using the clutch to control wheel spin instead of using the gas pedal. My clutch pedal actually got stuck down once and it smelled bad inside the car. After all that abuse I added the blower and still milked another 8,000 miles out of the stock clutch.

I have never had my clutch slip after 38000 miles. Its been mostly city driving, I don't launch the car ever, but i accelerate real fast after all stop lights.

my clutch is still going extremely strong at almost 40k miles. that includes about 35 runs at the strip, about 20 of those runs on drag radials, about 15 of those runs 4k+ launches.

also fooling around on the street.

no... im pretty sure my clutch is messed up (assuming that my gears can shift while it's still up and that when 'in gear' the accel does nothing)

yeah, your clutch is gone. Slips once like that (unless extremely hot) and recovery is unlikely.

The stock clutch feels kinda weird. Lots of travel in the pedal before the engagement/disengagement point.

Really? mine is short as hell. I barely tap the clutch pedal and the rpms rise from slipping it out.
