Default no ACC power in metra harness?

I've got metra harness 95-5812. The red wire that's supposed to be ACC (switched 12V) is mating to the factory harness in a spot where there's no wire.

Looking at the factory harness, I see all the speaker wires, battery (yellow), ground, and there's just one more wire in the factory harness and it is pink/black. There's no pin in the metra harness that touches this one. I've put my voltmeter on this pink/black wire and it doesn't appear to change voltage with the ignition switch. Not sure what this wire is.

There's 2nd harness that plugs into the factory radio - 12 wires or so. No idea what those are. I assume switched power is in there.

Anybody got a quick answer on where switched power is behind the factory radio?

Behhh...bit the bullet and went add-a-circuit on the fuse box.

Disappoined in metra. At this point, I'm sorry I paid money for a part that is giving me only power & ground. :-)

there is no acc wire from the factory harness. there is a special signal from the sjb that turns on the radio, at least for 08's and up, maybe even 07's. fuse 5 in the passenger side kick panel fuse box is what i used. there is no fuse in it, you can either put the wire into the right part of the fuse holder and run an inline fuse or you can wrap the acc wire around the left side of a fuse and put it in the holder. fuse holder 5 does not turn off when you turn the car off, it turns off when you open the door.

I'm looking at the wiring diagrams for the '07. The black/pink wire is hot in the run or accessory position. It seems as though it should not be hot with the ignition off. I think it is a distribution wire from the SJB that affects 20 things.

I picked a spare fuse there, but it was an ignition controlled.

I like what you're describing better. Which one is fuse 5?

If you have your Owner's Guide, I suggest you check it for the location.

For 2007, fuse 5 in the passenger compartment is the second fuse from the left on the horizontal bottom row of four fuses on the left side of the fuse box.

Thanks for the tip! I moved my add-a-circuit to fuse 5 and it works just like you described. I like that a lot better. Many thanks.

For 2007 and up, PAC is the only one so far that I have found that makes a complete wiring harness. It is costly but well worth it for folks who do not want to splice in, cut, run wires to get your new head unit to work.

That's what I used just because I wanted my whole factory system to work with no hang-ups during install, and it was great. Expensive, but worth it for me because it gave me no problems.
