Default Reverse lights always on

Ok, I did a search on this issue and found that a couple of things might be causing the reverse lights to always be on. S197 section being wet and something about the SJB control, but I have no idea what these mean. I have only had the car for a week so I really don't know that much about it. It is a 2003 GT. The reverse lights are always on no matter what gear. They lenses are cracked and now there is condensation in the lens. I am sure they are cracked due to the lights always being on. Also it looks like a pain in the a$$ to pull the taillights in order to change the bulbs. Any feedback on what I can do to fix the issue without going to the stealership!

It takes 5 minutes to change the bulbs its not very hard. As for the lights always being on could be a switch problem.

I had the same issue a while back with my 08 gt. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the reverse switch as it was stuck. I couldn't tell you the cost though as it was covered under the factory warranty.

Check the reverse switch. There should be two wires coming from it. When the switch connects them, the lights come on. The switch could be stuck in the on position or the wires are exposed and touching.

Where is the switch located?

I'd cut the wires to the switch and see if the reverse lights shut off, then you know the switch is bad. It should take just a few minutes to change out. If you do it quick enough, you'll hardly lose any trans. fluid.

I actually got under the car yesterday and found what I think was the switch. 2 black wires coming off of it to a plug on the main harness. I saw nothing that would cause the issue. I even unplugged it from the main harness and nothing. The car goes to the stealership today for some other issues so we will see what the problem is. More to come.
