Correct me if I am wrong, but when you do the Saleen supercharger don't you reverse the alternator? Now it spins backwards so you have to change something inside it to make it work.. I would start there..

Nothing needs changed in alternator......did you buy a full kit from someone and not a used one? You need to make sure that you use all pulleys supplied with kit.....if you had underdrive pullys on before install they are now useless....saleen sent new pullys with there kits to replace stock.....these will change the speed of alternator...to me it sounds like your alternator is turning to slow

I have the supercharger pulley, larger water pump pulley (from brenspeed), and im using the stock idler pulley cause i was told that i was better than the plastic saleen pulley that has torn apart on some people. the alternator pulley is still the stock one. Do i need a special pulley on there? if so where can i get it thanks!

You have to change pulleys on your alternator or it won't spin it. The stock one won't spin the alternator if it's going in the other direction. You need that special socket you should have gotten with the kit to change it out. I had the same problem as you, but mine was the bushings in the alternator went out. Had black carbon all around the shaft.

any idea where i can get the saleen pulley and the special tool?

I just relooked at the instructions and yeah i should have had a black pulley to put on the alternator but i still have the stock goldish/silver one.

thanks

yeah thats your problem, thats a one way bearing, so your alternator now free spins in the direction it is trying to be driven. The new pulley is simple black pulley, no bearing so it will spin whatever way its driven.

Also that stuff about alternator spinning slower cause of the pulleys is all wrong. you dont replace the pulley on the crank so that speed stays the same, and the new pulley for the alternator is about the same size also. All the others in line have no effect on the speed of the belt. The only thing your replacing is idlers.

Anyway, one other thing to note, your going to need a impact wrench to get that pulled off, and to put the new one on, seance there is no way to stop the shaft from spinning, the impact is the only way to do it. Just take your time and go in small bursts.

+1 on the impact wrench. Otherwise it's a bitch to get off.
