Default Does higher elevation make 05+ gts run like crap???

Like the title says, i recently moved to Denver from Las Vegas and since i have been here, my car is running like SH|t! its sluggish, not peppy and just all around a wet dog. I was driving back to the house when my check engine light popped on...I ran a diagnostic on it and it said 02 sensor was having a problem reading. As far as mods go, I have intake, o/r xpipe, tb spacer. My car ran like a champ in Vegas...everyone keeps telling me its the elevation...you guys ever hear of this? Any help would be awesome. Thanks -mike.

The CEL isn't normal.

But yes elevation is going to have a noticeable effect. Especially going from Vegas to Denver.

PS: Enjoy your winters.
PSS: Get a supercharger. /problem solved

you need a tune with the mods you have for 1. and the higher elevation makes a difference for sure.

wow, I'd think it would run better because of the cold air up there. But I guess the thinner air is effecting it more, you might have to have it re-tuned by a prefessional

You'll need to retune it to compensate for the reduced amount of oxygen present at the higher elevations. That way, it will feel at least closer to its former self.

But in the end, yes, being at a higher elevation will result in less horsepower. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Car is probably running to lean. I has a similar problem with my GSXR-1000 riding in the mountains in NH, I threw it on the computer, richened it up and it ran like a champ.

If you have a Bama or Brenspeed tune, call them and ask for some new tunes. It's fixable to some extent. The O2 sensor problem COULD be related but I suspect it's a separate issue.

Heat and Elevation = less ponies to unleash. Get a new tune and you can compensate for some of it.

When the NHRA comes to Bandimere they talk about less horsepower because of the elevation and low humidity. I'd either get a dyno tune or new tunes[let them know you live in Denver].

I thought the computer and sensors were supposed to automatically compensate for altitude.
Years ago, I drove my '97 GT to the top of Pike's Peak and as I remember, it ran fine.
In the old days (of carburetors) you had to re-tune for high altitude.
