05-09 model or 2010?
I just test drove the new 2010 GT and really liked it. Felt solid as a tank, sounded great, pulled hard and was pretty comfortable (I fit in it, I'm 6'6").
Trouble is, it was $32K sticker. I see 05-09 models for sale for 1/2 the price of new.
Has anyone driven both GT versions (manuals)? I'd love some comments on how they compare. It is all cosmetic?
My first new car was a 1990 LX 5.0 hatchback. I still have the window sticker!

Ulimately it comes down to whether you want the updated better quality or if you want just want a GT at a lower payment. I wanted the better quality myself... Not saying the '05 to '09 is not a good car.. but the new 2010 is that car only better...
Also the 2011 has the new 5.0L but I wasn't a serious HP freak before and I'm not now. The 315 works just fine for me

It is not just cosmetic, there are several improvements and refinements for 2010. The suspension and brakes are differentamong other things, also it has more power and options that were not availalbe on the 05-09. It is a much better car in every respect.

the motor and suspension is..according to Ford the same as in the Mustang Bullitt..and then they improved it even more. So, it's pedigree starts as something more than JUST an '09 Mustang GT. And as stated..the new interior is much better in every respect. I personally LOVE the new exterior to include the tail lights..what i don't like is the rear fascia...but the overall car is so much improved... I bought one. The car won me over

But if it were me making the decision between an '09 and a '10, I'd have to go with the '09 even if the prices were identical. The '10 bodystyle looks terribe from the rear, although I do like it from the front & sides. But still, I can't get over the rear end, so I couldn't ever buy one myself. If you like the styling, then go for it...but do yourself a favor and wait for the 2011 if you can because the 2010 will likely be the only year of that body style with the old 4.6L engine. In my opinion, there will not be much demand in the used car market for the 2010 with the old engine. Resale will be tough, as most will demand the new 5.0L engine.

Thanks for the comments so far. I really liked the shifter, it was smooth and very short throw. It was smooth as butter, even with only 29 miles on the odo. The one I test drove had some sort of aluminum ****, not the cue ball the others had.
I see the GT base is available with the 3.73 rear axle package, but looks only a few grand less than the premium.

As far as the rear of the 2010... that's subjective. I like it ok..not crazy about it but would not..obviously let it keep me from buying the new design. Give the after-market segment time and just like with the '05 to '09 models..they will come up with something better. Or use some imagination and get some custom work done. It's a Mustang!!! they have been customized since they came out and the new body will be no different.
Again, if power is your primary thing..wait for the 2011. Gotta run through all the scenarios and see which plays out best for you in the long run
Good luck on what you decide and post back with an update when you decide

I've owned 3 s197 GTs a 2006 convertible, a 2008 coupe, and now a 2010 coupe. Hands down the 2010 is clearly the best and miles ahead of the 06 and 08. I never had any problems with the 06 except that it was a little noisy on the highway and had slight gear whine since new. The 08 I had every problem in the book ... gear rollover noise, gear whine, and driveshaft vibration. The 2010 is quiet, smooth and a joy to drive. No matter how much they mark down the 09 I'd pay extra for the 2010.
