Help !!

My and my girlfriend walk out of the gym this afternoon and the mustang wont start. When I turn the key there nothing happens, the solenoid doesn’t click, engine wont turn, nothing. So, I think its only the battery it should be an easy fix. As I am waiting for the good Samaritan to bring his car, I notice there is a motor or pump running close to the radiator on the passenger side. Since I don’t have any tools, I cant lift the plastic cover to see what it is. When I go through the fuses, I see it is #26, the mini relay to the horn.

So the cables are set up and I let it sit for a while. When I turn the key I get a loud clicking noise but nothing else. Meanwhile the radio and lights inside the car are going nuts, any advice ???

And no, the engine would not turn….

+1 to battery. The noise is probably a relay and there just wasn't enough to crank it over so the starter solenoid just clicked.

Check for loose or corroded connections.

The negative side of the jumper cable on your car should be connected to a good ground on your car, not the battery terminal (to prevent sparks from the final connection causing a problem). If you have been connecting the jumper cable to the negative terminal on your battery without success, but connecting to a different ground works, then you probably have a loose ground connection or corrosion on the negative battery post or terminal.

It could be a bad battery, but I am just giving you some other things to consider. Good luck.

Jumper cables suck. When my battery died I could barley get enough juice from my jeep to jump it. The dead battery won't hold any charge at all so pretty much all the power needs to come from the cables. If the battery wasn't totally dead then hooking the cables up would help charge it, which would make it easier to jump start. With the battery not holding any charge at all it makes it really hard to jump start.

Its wierd how a battery can go from working to no juice at all in a couple of hours.

New battery = all good
