Remote starter range

Remote starter range
I've ordered and received a remote starter for my 2010 GT but it is not mentioned in the manual nor in any other literature that comes with the car. Does anyone know what is the range of this device?

Let me put it this way: My building is just shy of 600 feet long, and about 100 feet wide. My office is on the front face of the building, with the parking lot behind the building. I work on the far east side, and park (behind it) on the far west side. If I press and hold the button for a few seconds as I walk out the office door, I find that my car is running when I get out to it. The range (as far as I can tell) is ridiculous. And I love it.

Is the remote start like it is on most GM cars where you have to have the car locked, hold the remote start button, and then turn the key when you get in? Does it use the same key fob the other mustangs use, just one more button on it? I don't like having to turn the key when you get in, it defeats the purpose just a bit in my opinion. I hope that they make a true keyless like the Taurus (I believe) has. I love the feature.
I think that the last few touches the Mustang needs is a new key fob (I know it just got one, but I am pretty sure that they got a new one for the Taurus, so use that one, thought I haven't seen it), adjustable pedals, air conditioned seats, and a memory setting for seats and pedals and mirrors. That with the new 5.0 and a paddle shifted 6 speed. I would drool for life over that baby.

Hey sponkey21,
Like kinoman2002 said, it's a separate one-button fob for remote start (the other fob for lock/unlock/trunk/panic is built into the key). If your doors are unlocked, they will lock when the remote start engages. Remote start will not engage if any of the doors are open. If you get in and shift the vehicle out of park without putting the key in and turning it to the 'Run' position, the vehicle will shut off.
The other 'keyless' thing you are referring to is push-button start. I agree, that's way cool stuff, but I've only seen it on the Lincoln MKS, MKT, and MY2010 Taurus. I'm sure they're working on the other stuff you mentioned in your post. Usually, once an advanced feature debuts in a Lincoln, it finds it's way into Ford and Mercury models in a year or two. They have the cooled seats in the same vehicles I cited above (plus the MY2010 MKZ) now, and the memory pedals, seats, and mirrors as well. So I would assume it's just a matter of time now...
Of course, the goal is to incorporate all that while still making the car affordable.
I will say, though, that the cooled seats would have been great in the MY2010 Mustang. Since mine is a summertime-only car, I would have liked to get that hot leather cooled down pronto when I get in. But since we can't get the cooled seats, I got the remote start, figuring I could give the A/C a head start before I got in the vehicle.
