Default Long Tube Headers Tune Question

I am putting a set of 1 5/8" American Racing Headers brand long tube headers with matching off-road X pipe. My question is do these headers require dyno tuning or can Bamachips or Brenspeed write a tune for these headers? My car also has 4.10s, Borla stingers, and a JLT CAI and I have a SCT X3.

Either one can write a tune for it.

Bama or Brespeed could send you a tune for this. However, I would suggest you getting it dyno tuned.

You will get more power out of your set up AND it will be a safer tune, allowing you to see your A/F, get it cleaned up a bit if needed, and get a good idea of how your power/torque is looking.

Debateable. Bama wrote a great performing tune for my headers, but could not handle the O2 check engine light issues after multiple tries.

I am currently running a VMP tune. VMP seems to have gotten it right on the 2nd try.

Once you get it all figured out, I want to hear how loud the new setup is

VMP couldnt work out my woes so I got a brenspeed and it works great. Ill live with the little HP loss until I can get a dyno tune. I dont think I have enough mods to justify a dyno tune yet.

They do not require Dyno tuning but will require a custom tune, you will probably be getting either a P0133 or a P0153 code, these refer to Circuit Slow Response Bank1 and Bank 2 sensor 1. If you get these codes the only way to eliminate the codes is to custom tune the vehicle. The vehicle would run, and get you where you need to go, AFR will be a bit messed up though. You can contact any of the SCT Dealers already mentioned above (VMP Tuning, MorePowerTuning, BamaChips, Brenspeed etc....) or use our dealer locator to find a shop near you: http://www.sctflash.com/dlocator.php

I ran my LT's w/o a tune for about a month with no issues, idle, rpm, CEL, nothing... If you have a CAI tune you should be alright, but if you wanna squeeze all the HP out then get the tune. I personally like to use BAMAchips. You will usually get your tune within the week depending how busy Doug is.

GOOD LUCK!!!
