Default Hood pins, preferences?

I'm about to do some upgrades, and was wondering if there are major differences between the hood pin kits out there... Right now, I'm looking at the Shelby kit in black here. Are there other options that are cheaper, but still high quality? Need to make my mind up within the next week or so... Thanks

Are you considering functional or non-functional (appearance) pins? Considering the S197's propensity for hood shake, the functional pins are the way to go. Unless you want anything special, I think the standard pins with the plastic coated lanyards are simple and maintain the retro look. There are some other very cool looking pins that require some added installation time. It's your call. Definately a great visual mod in any case.

the Shelby Hood Pin Kit is very nice...I think the only thing I've heard about the black set is that the black comes off over time and has to be touched up...

- I have the Shelby hood pin and it looks great and seems excellent quality. I have the silver ones so I can’t comment on the black coming off. However, I have heard other hood pins are just as good and less than ½ the price. I bought mine for $100 from Blueoval on fleabay.

I have the flat style, got mine from either FRPP or Shelby, can't remember. On mine the cable portion is all rusted under the protective plastic coating. If I had a flux capacitor in my car, I'd use it to go back in time and not put the hood pins on. My car is also garage kept.

Just my 2 cents.

I personally like the Cervini hood pins. No cable, just a clean look.

Are Mustang hoods flying open on their own a common issue? If so, is Ford aware of this massive build defect?

I was driving down the interstate about a month ago passing a car when his hood flew up. Scared the crap out of me and he swerved all over the place. Not fun.
