A friend of mine swears blind that he met a guy who had the 5.4 litre motor in his GT and he maintains it was a special order direct from Ford.
He said he saw the motor in the vehicle with his own eyes.
I told him the guy MUST have had the motor installed by somebody other than Ford but he will not budge.

Who is right/wrong??

The ONLY 5.4 is the GT500, period. If someone does have a 5.4 in a GT (or V6 for that matter) then it's a custom job.

 

It would've been great if your friend could get pics.

 

it could be totally true, you can buy the crate 5.4 kit from FRRP and put it in a GT....think outside of the box fellas

well yeah an frpp dealer would have done the install, but to the most customer that would be the same thing basically as having it direct order from ford.

 

I say, bet him that it was not straight from the factory..... and make it count (new built engine, supercharger, any other toy etc)... you get my drift?!?!?!

 

I've never heard of anyone being able to order a new Mustang GT with the 5.4 engine in it, from the factory. Anyone who thinks they saw one is mistaken, and probably thinking of the 60's - 70's when you had engine options.
If a dealership installed a 5.4 in a new GT they have just voided the entire warranty for the drivetrain, haven't they?

 

well then it would not have a direct order from Ford. Ford will not under any circumstances put a non stock motor in from the factory
