so, by the same token, if the difference between 3.31 and 3.55 is not much, does that mean the difference between 3.55 and 3.73 isnt that much? I ask because the car I was originally getting had 3.73's in it, but now I "might" get one that has 3.55's in it. I'm just wondering what kind of performance (acceleration) reduction i'm going to get by getting the 3.55's instead.
Mine came stock with 3.55s and a LS and I love em. I drive my friends GT with 3.31s sometimes and I don't notice ant real difference, but he's mostly stock too.
If I was you, I'd definitely go to 3.73s, or 4.10 as you need, but would highly recomend installing a limited slip while your in there.
The major cost of a gear swap is labor. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish just because the parts are cheap. Get the gear you want, not the gear that's cheap! I have 4:10's in my daily driver and wish I had 3:73's but they came with the car when I bought it. I'd go 3:73.
well said! agreed

same here...I love my 3.55....way better then the 3.08 in my 93 LX and the 2.73 in my 87 LX......to go from 3.31 to 3.55 IMO is not worth the labor costs
