Someone is trying to sell me a 2.8 whipple and I am very interested. (its the whipple Unit only, i have the other pieces alrdy). He assured me it was for 05 and up stangs only and the pics he gave me seem like it also but i could not find any details on the 2.8.
I could only find 2.3 whipples. Has anyone heard of the 2.8 on 05 and up mustangs? He was running 18 psi on a forged engine but he said it would work perfectly fine running the amount of boost that i want.(6-8 lbs). Please give me some input and if this information he gave me is fine. Would this Supercharger unit work fine with the 400hp whipple kit components?

 

I think you mean (or the seller) 2.9.

The 2.9 is for the GT500 and maybe Cobra as well. Since it's bigger, I don't see it bolting to the 2.3 manifold without some custom work.

It can be made to work on a GT, just like the 3.4 can be made to work on a GT, but it'll be custom and end up costing a lot.

 

hmmm well he was adamant it was a 2.8 whipple that can bolt on to a stock 05 and up GT. he told me it was not for a gt500.

 

no such thing as a 2.8. and the only kit that whipple makes for the 3v 4.6 mustang is the 2.3
without bigger ci, the 2.3 works perfect for the 4.6 3v

how much you getting it for?
the 2.3 should work fine at low boost without the IC.
i think the non IC kit runs 5-6 psi
