Default Help with sluggish start

Gonna see if you guys can help me with some symptoms my car's having. It'll be a few days before I can get it to the dealer.

For the past few months.....my car sporadically has trouble turning over. It'll crank immediately, but struggles to turn over. Often times, it just sounds like a very "weak start" if that makes sense. No other symptoms.

It sounds like the battery, but I bought a new battery almost two years ago. Maybe it's just weak? It's the brand from O'reillys.....everstart I think.

New fuel filter, newly cleaned CAI, cleaned MAF, not bad gas, spark plugs changed 15k miles ago.

Any ideas?

Could be the battery.....any battery acid corrosion around the positive or negative terminals?

Have you had your alternator checked out?

Although I doubt it's the battery based on your description, it IS possible. If it is an NEVERSTART, then I'd consider replacing it regardless of whether it's the problem or not. They're probably worse than the MotorCrap batteries.

Considering what you've replaced, I'd run some fuel system cleaner (I like both Techron and Seafoam) through it; twice if the first run doesn't cure it; and see if that helps before going to the expense of replacing anything else.

thanks for the replies. I did have a problem with CONSTANT corrosion around the neg terminal ever since i bought the damn thing. I used some battery terminal coating and thats helped keep the corrosion away lately.

I haven't had the usual symptoms of a bad alternator...ive had plenty of those go out in the past.

I'll try the additive and see what happens.

while we're on the subject.....can anyone recommend a great battery? I really don't want to pay the high price of an Optima.

Thanks!!

Interstate is an excellent battery. I've also had good service from Delco's. There have been some here that have been able to get the dealership to replace their battery while under warranty.
