Default Xcal help needed!

I was just about to change my tune, and when i hooked up my xcal it said the normal "please turn car to ON, do not start." When i put the car in the "on" position, the message would not go away. I un-plugged the xcal and tried starting the car, it started after a good 3-4 second delay... turned the car off and tried the same thing again with the same results...

Note.. i did turn the car on before i decided to turn it off and load a different tune.

That's happened to me before. I just gave up and tried later and it worked. I have no idea why it does that sometimes.
